Lush's Flowering Tea Bubble Bar

Image
Tomorrow I'm going on a 4 hour flight to Lanzarote for this year's family summer holiday and I'm so excited! Before going, I thought it would be nice to treat myself to a relaxing Lush bath, and the Flowering Tea bubble bar seemed perfect.  Lush's Flowering Tea Bubble Bar Firstly, can we just appreciate how cute this bubble bar is? They really went to town with this one. It is literally a teabag. Anyone who knows me knows I love tea so this product looked as if it was made for me. It's white and shimmery with a purple string to add to the teabag effect. Judging by the name Flowering Tea, you can probably guess it has a very floral scent. It has a fragrance combining orange blossom and jasmine. Its not like a smell I've ever experienced in a Lush shop - it's nice, but not my favourite as it is quite overpowering. But given the name, I was interested to see what else might come from this bubble bar. Though I'm not the biggest fan of heavy floral f...

Big Birthday Haul!

Image
I've had birthday money burning a hole in my back pocket for quite a while now, so I caved in and brought a fair few things yesterday. If I ramble on any more, this will be a very long post, so lets get started!  Ted Baker Elly purse - £48 Before going high street shopping, I spent my Ted Baker voucher I got from my brother online. I knew they had a sale on and I had seen this purse that I liked had been reduced. I didn't want to risk it being gone by the time I went shopping, so I brought it from the website. This is the appropriately named Elly purse. It came in many different colours, but I brought it in black leather. It has pink leather on the inside as well as a monochrome floral lining. It has lots of space inside, with six card slots and a space to put notes and/or receipts. It also has a separate compartment for coins. I know this sounds weird, but it makes me so happy when someone asks me for change, because opening the clasp to get to my coins is so satisfyi...

Lush's Intergalactic Bath Bomb

Image
I'm not a morning bath person - I much prefer them in the evening to wind down. However, I was feeling very tired and needing some pepping up before travelling down to my grandparents later on today. I chose Lush's Intergalactic bath bomb and it really is quite something!   Lush's Intergalactic Bath Bomb I think it's fair to say that I picked up this bomb because of its appearance. From what I saw, it was probably the prettiest product in the shop. It's a gorgeous deep cyan colour with swirls of white, pink and yellow. It also has a tonne of glitter. Despite the look of the bomb, I wasn't mad keen on the scent. The sticky-label on the packet explains that it has peppermint and popping candy in it, with a fragrance of 'intergalactic 80s rogue.' I'm not quite sure what that's meant to smell like, but it is strong of peppermint. Unfortunately, I automatically associate the smell of mint with toothpaste. But because it has this scent, its ve...

OOTD - My Uncle and Auntie's Wedding

Image
Yesterday I had a lovely time being a guest at my uncle and auntie's wedding. It was such a beautiful venue and the rain thankfully held off until late evening. My family and I have known this was coming for, I think, just under a year, so it gave me time to get excited about buying a fancy new outfit for this special day. I started looking for a new dress as soon as I heard the news! This was my look for the wedding:  Front of my dress Back of my dress Most importantly, of course, is the dress. I brought this in March from Lipsy in Debenhams. It is a black overlay body-con dress with pretty pink, yellow and white flowers on it. I thought this would look great for a summer wedding since the black is sophisticated whilst the bright flowers add a pop of fun colour. Its a scuba material which I was a bit worried about since I thought I might be too hot, but it was absolutely fine. Having this also means that it would be a suitable dress to wear all year round as long as ...

Lucy Rose - Work it Out

Image
Lucy Rose - Work it Out I first heard of Lucy Rose on Radio 1 when her song Like an Arrow was the 'Track of the Day.' I really liked the individuality of her sound. I downloaded her new album Work it Out  last Wednesday before hearing any of her other songs so I could do an honest review.  The uniqueness of Like an Arrow is carried through the whole album. Her voice is something I don't know what to compare to. The only person I can think it is fairly similar to it Sam Smith because her voice is so effortlessly soulful like his. If I picture her recording her album, I can't imagine her just standing still in front of the mic. You can tell she's very passionate about her music. The music itself is as different as her voice. Some songs, like She'll Move , have a hint of similarity to songs featured on Ben Howard's recent album I Forget Where We Were,  whereas other songs, such as  Our Eyes, have a slight pop/Two Door Cinema Club kind of vibe. The albu...

Lush's Frozen Bath Bomb

Image
I was feeling on edge after watching yet another episode of Pretty Little Liars, which sounded to me like the perfect excuse to wind down and try one of my new bath bombs from Lush. I decided to use the Frozen one.  Lush's Frozen Bath Bomb The appearance of the bomb is beautiful - the lady in the shop described it as looking like Elsa's dress. Its a spherical, pale blue bath bomb with a more vibrant, sky blue running through the middle. It also has quite a bit of glitter on the outside too. Apart from being Frozen themed, I think it was the smell the most attracted me to this bomb. Especially in summer, I really love the fresher smelling products. This one has the freshest scent out of the five I bought. It has a mixture of grapefruit, which is a lovely, mood-enhancing smell, and Tunisian neroli. The uplifting fragrance means this would be a great bath bomb to use in the morning if your feeling a bit grotty or tired.  Fizzing away! As soon as you drop this b...

Chocolate and Cranberry Flapjacks

Image
In my free time, one of my favourite things to do is bake. I've recently finished Tanya Burr's book, Love, Tanya, and really liked the look of the recipes she included. I've never made flapjacks before and I enjoy adapting recipes to put my own stamp on them, so I decided to modify Tanya's recipe of Smarties Flapjacks and turn them into Chocolate and Cranberry ones. They were very tasty, so here's how to make them: You will need: The ingredients you need 125g of butter 125g of sugar 6 tablespoons of golden syrup 250g of porridge oats 50g of milk chocolate chunks 25g of dried cranberries Method: 1. Pre-heat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius. 2. Add the butter to the a saucepan and melt for a little bit before adding the sugar and golden syrup. 3. After the sugar has dissolved and the butter has melted, add in the porridge oats, chocolate chunks and cranberries. If you don't want to add these, you can choose different things to use ...

Birthday Trip to London

Image
This week has probably been the most hectic of my life, but it has been so much fun. Tuesday was graduation from Year 11, Wednesday was my school prom and Friday was my very first job interview. However, probably the most chaotic (and boiling hot) day was yesterday, my sixteenth birthday. I really wanted to go into London for the day - partly because it was somewhere my family could get to easily, partly because of the new Oxford Street Lush shop! So the trip was organised and it was a lovely day: The beautiful ring from Mum & Dad First off, after a night of little sleep due to a huge thunder storm, it was present opening time. I'm so lucky with the presents I got, which included the beautiful star stacking Pandora ring from my parents, a Ted Baker gift card from my little brother and money from my grandparents and uncles and auntie. We then got a train to Kings Cross, followed by a tube to Oxford Circus. It would've been rude not to pop into the giant Topshop ...
