GRWM: Christmas Party

Image
Hi! Hello! How are you? Long time no see. And the simple reason for that I've been  drowning in work. I'm having such a blast at uni so far, but man oh man it's intense. However much I'm missing my uni buddies though, it is lovely to be home for a little chillax with the family. But for the first time in probably forever, I feel very un-festive. Christmas is my favourite time of year, but with the whirlwind of a 2017 I've had, I kind of forgot about it. There's nothing like a good Christmas shindig to get you back in the merry mood though, and I love any excuse to dress up - so why not take you guys along for the ride?  Lets get started with the outfit. And how perfect is this adorable little playsuit from Miss Selfridge ? I think it's the ideal mix between sophisticated and cute, and I'm big, big love with it. I'm also super into these New Look heels at the moment (unfortunately sold out since I picked them up for a fiver during boxing day ...

Smokey Eyes & Vampy Lips

Image
When uni first started, my friend Emma and I would spend a lot of our free Fridays mooching around the city and spending far too much money. That's died down a bit now, but yesterday we went into Primark to pick up a new hairbrush, only to find ourselves in Boots lusting over all the makeup. I didn't go too crazy, but one thing I did fall in love with was the look of a liquid lipstick from Sleek. Sleek is one of my favourite brands on the high street - I love their eye shadow palettes and swear by their highlighters - so I was dying to try this lippy out. Justifying yet another purchase with oh it's fine I can use it for a blog post, here we are, ladies and gents, with a lil smokey eye and vampy lip look for you today.  complexion.  So in my last makeup post (linked  here  if you want a peek) I managed to stay away from the NYX Colour Corrector and Concealer palette , but I knew it wouldn't be long before I went back after it. It's the perfect, c...

My Favourite Makeup Look Ever?

Image
I'm really excited about doing this post. I'm not quite sure why. I've just been writing a lot of things for uni recently, and I've sort of jumped back into the flow of doing posts and re-realised my enthusiasm for writing.   Orrrrr it could be the fact that I'm absolutely in love with the makeup look coming up for you in just a sec. For someone that isn't too confident with eye shadow and can take between two minutes and two hours on their winged liner, I was pretty darn happy with myself after giving this double flick look a go. I'm no makeup artist, but I absolutely adore this look, so if you're looking for something kinda easy but still looks like you put some effort in, look no further.  complexion.  Staring with the basics, ya'll already know the drill - I'm not a fan of foundation. It feels too heavy on my skin. I'm definitely much more of a tinted moisturiser kinda gal, and my favourite is the  Urban Decay Naked Skin O...

A Week in Outfits

Image
Oh hey! Long time no see. I have been super busy with all my uni stuff recently; I've got to that stage where I pretend everything's okay, watch a tonne of Brooklyn 99 and consume far too many Party Rings to procrastinate doing the work I actually have to do, hence I haven't really been on here much. Also, the photo set up - as you will be able to tell - hasn't really been sorted out yet. My box room isn't great for good outfit shots etc, so I've been wondering how to tackle a week in outfits post. I've settled with a a mirror selfie...I'm sorry, you're going to have to bare with for a while I think :').  I've kept you waiting for a new post for long enough, so without further ado, let's get on with the week in outfits, shall we?  monday.  First of all, I'd like to point out that I haven't really updated my A/W wardrobe since last year, so I don't know how much will still be available. But I'm pretty hap...

Sundara Karma Live [Review]

Image
I feel like Sundara Karma personify everything modern day indie revolves around: an iconic look, a captivating presence, and a sound that is familiar and easy enough to get into quickly but different enough to make them stand out from the rest. And as I slipped into the ever-growing mass of teens bustling to get to the front at Southampton's 1865, a huge fizz of excitement filling the room, I knew that the Berkshire quartet's mellow, Bowie-esque efforts that led them to dipping their toes into the mainstream market were going to inspire a wild night.  In July, debut album Youth Is Only Ever Fun in Retrospect was given a reboot - three extra numbers interspersed a track list of big arena-ready anthems. One of these was set opener and their most melancholic track  Another Word for Beautiful,  which Oscar Pollock crooned to majestic back lighting - a bit of a misdirection to what was about to come. Soon, the fiery opening riff to A Young Understanding echoed around ...

Outfits for Freshers Week

Image
It's official: I'm a uni student. Time to roll on the extra long days of essay writing, crippling debt and 9 am lectures following a night on the town. But before all that, of course, is Freshers Week. I actually have two Freshers Weeks - the week just gone and this week - although my biggest party is tomorrow night, and I'm super excited. Before I got here I was a bit worried about outfits and things; sure, I had been clubbing before, but different clubs expect different dress codes, plus I always try to find an excuse to buy more new clothes. So if you're looking for some last-minute Freshers Week outfit inspo, or just like all-things clothes related like me, look no further.  I've found a lot of places and a lot of people tend to keep things fairly simple when it comes to their outfits round here. I wore this first outfit - which keeps things casual with an injection of dressy metallic - out to a club on Friday, but I think it would also work really nice...

Autumn Makeup

Image
It's that time of year again to start pulling on the knitwear and fluffy socks, but most importantly, rocking a bold berry lip. I love the colours of Autumn, and having the opportunity to wack out my fave Maybelline Colour Drama Lip Pencil in Berry Much makes me a very happy girl indeed. I had always struggled with finding the right eye shades to go with it, however, but now I've got my hands on the NYX Warm Neutrals palette (yes, another blog post about that) I'm all set with my perfect bold Autumnal Makeup look. Hope you enjoy...  Starting with base, I tend to use the same kind of products all year round. I've always liked a light, dewy finish come rain or shine. I seem to switch between MAC Face and Body foundation and the Urban Decay Naked One and Done Tinted Moisturiser , which is what I went for today. The best part about this product is its long term effects; I definitely feel like after using it for a while my skin is generally better and has more of a...

My Summer Reading

Image
If it wasn't for Netflix being a thing, I would probably have my nose stuck in a book 100% of the time. But I broke up from school after exams in June this year, and promised myself that I would try and knuckle down on my ever-growing to-read list during this extra long break, rather than be sat in front of the telly the whole time. So now that I'm back on my reading game, lets hope they'll be more book-related posts in the future, kicking things off with (what are hopefully spoiler-free) synopses and reviews of the books I've read this summer. TRULY, MADLY, GUILTY BY LIANE MORIARTY  I'd never read anything by Liane Moriarty before, but I knew she is kind of a big deal in the world of crime writing, which is why her latest release - Truly, Madly, Guilty - was top of my list. The story mostly tracks the lives of three couples, detailing events before, during and after a traumatic barbecue at one of the couples' houses. The book begins with the ...

The 5(ish) Best Small Moments of the Summer

Image
I've had a pretty crazy summer. Though I've been off school since the end of June, these past couple of months really seem to have flown by. I've got up to some big stuff; I went on my first parentless holiday to Rome, I went to Florida with the whole of my dad's side of the family, I had my 18th birthday and all the celebrations that come along with that. But when a lot of massive things like that seem to come all at once, the priceless little moments seem to get swallowed. So in today's post, ladies and gentleman, we give a s/o to the best small moments of the summer...this did use to be 'The Small Moments' blog, after all.  number one   my pandora bracelet My love of all-things Pandora jewellery originates from my 16th Birthday, when my mum and dad bought me the star stacking ring, and I haven't gone a day without wearing it since. I've now got two other rings and a necklace pendant, but until recently I didn't own one of their fa...
