GRWM: Christmas Party
Hi! Hello! How are you? Long time no see. And the simple reason for that I've been drowning in work. I'm having such a blast at uni so far, but man oh man it's intense. However much I'm missing my uni buddies though, it is lovely to be home for a little chillax with the family. But for the first time in probably forever, I feel very un-festive. Christmas is my favourite time of year, but with the whirlwind of a 2017 I've had, I kind of forgot about it. There's nothing like a good Christmas shindig to get you back in the merry mood though, and I love any excuse to dress up - so why not take you guys along for the ride?
Lets get started with the outfit. And how perfect is this adorable little playsuit from Miss Selfridge? I think it's the ideal mix between sophisticated and cute, and I'm big, big love with it. I'm also super into these New Look heels at the moment (unfortunately sold out since I picked them up for a fiver during boxing day sales last year, here are some similar beauties) - the giant platform and block heel make them my most comfy pair. This red clutch back from Amazon you might've seen before on some of my older outfit posts, but the pop of bright colour pulls the whole look together.
Accessories wise, we have the usual suspects: my everyday Star Stacking (no longer available), Dazzling Daisy and Delicate Heart Rings all from Pandora, as well as my Pandora bracelet with my Mickey Mouse and 18th Birthday charms and clips. Something I don't wear all that often, however, is my Swarovoski necklace. I absolutely love this necklace, and I think it works beautifully with the red accents in the outfit and makeup. And I seemingly tried to shove stars everywhere I could, so these earrings for Topshop (similar) made an appearance.
In the makeup department there's no real surprises. Complexion is mostly sorted out by my trusty NYX Colour Correcting Palette, with a touch of colour on the high points on my face with Benefit's Hoola Bronzer and a healthy lot of MUA's Undress Your Skin Highlighter in Iridescent Gold to achieve that disco ball look.
I still can't decide whether the Too Faced Natural Eyes or NYX Warm Neutrals is my favourite eye shadow palette of all time, but today I stuck with the first option. I always use the shade Sexpresso to fill in my eyebrows with an angled brush, but I also used the shade Honey Pot on top of the MAC Paint Pot in Bare Study, and Cashmere Bunny through the crease and under the eye. To open up the eyes, I used a bit of the MUA Highlighter from before right in the inner corners. I've been so much more into eyeliner recently; I've been winging it up everyday. My go-to liquid liner has always been the Topshop Magic Liner in Engraved - it's difficult to go wrong with this one. After curling my lashes, I put a tonne of the Make Up For Ever Excessive Lash Mascara on my top and bottom lashes.
The lips are the standout part of this makeup look for me, and it wouldn't be a Christmassy face without a bold red lip. My favourite favourite favourite red lipstick for a long ol' time has been the L'Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick in Blake's Red. Not only does it look and feel amazing on the lips, it also smells oddly good. Like those circular purple sweets that look like tablets, know the ones I mean? Anyway, wherever Blake's Red goes, so does the Revlon ColourStay lip liner in Red, 'cos Lord knows I can't be trusted with a dark lip without a lip liner.
And lastly, for my hair, I did something a little different. I've never been one to really play around with hairstyles too much, but here we are with some space buns. Super easy, super unoriginal. All I did was tied my hair up on either side of my head, as if doing bunches, but made buns instead. I then pinned them down and pulled at them to make them a little bigger and a little messier. I also pulled out the hair from just in front of ears; I don't like it looking too tidy.
And that's how I got ready for the Christmas party! Hope you all have a great Christmas!
See you soon (she says).
From,
Eleanor
