A Week in Outfits: Holiday Edition
When it comes to seasonal fashion, I know exactly what I like during Autumn/Winter - if it's cable knit and comfy I'm there. But in the warmer months I like to push the boat out a little bit...and when I say 'push the boat out', I mean wear something that isn't grey or black, and maybe even a skirt or two. Before I went to Florida, I did a big spend up on summer clothes. I couldn't wait to wear them all, so decided to wear them all in the first week of our holiday! So, here's what I wore in Florida, showcasing some old classics and some new faves.
*The brown bag you'll see throughout is from Accessorize (similar), and my sunnies are from French Connection :) The belt is actually my brother's and he has no idea where he got it oops*
TUESDAY: DISNEY'S HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS
As I was travelling on the Monday and was just wearing my comfies, we start with Tuesday. I know I said that sometimes I venture away from grey and black in the summer time, but it would difficult to resit this combo. To kick a Walt Disney World holiday off, I was always going to pick my Mickey Mouse crop top from Topshop (I got this last year so it's no longer available, but this one is similar enough). Obviously you can wear it anywhere around Disney, but the marl, burnt-out effect on this top fitted in well with the vintage feel of the Hollywood Studios park. The black denim shorts are from Next, which annoyingly are also no longer available (doing super well so far), but lets be real - you can find ones like these anywhere, and if you don't own a pair of black denim shorts already, what are you doing? Another true summertime essential for my are my Converse white low-tops - I don't know what I'd do without these in my life, and - as you'll see from this post - I literally wear them everywhere.
WEDNESDAY: UNIVERSAL STUDIOS FLORIDA
...Okay, so maybe I don't stray that far from grey and black in summer, but I (kinda dork-ish-ly) did try to co-ordinate my outfit with the theme of the day. So as I knew I'd be spending most of my time at Universal Studios surrounded by Harry Potter magic, I chose my most suitably-wizarding-world top from Pull & Bear which has mini gold stars on it, not that you can really tell from the photo. The Hogwarts Qudditch tee I bought there was also grey, so obviously I can never go too far out of my comfort zone. I paired it once again with my black Next shorts and white Converse for a lovely and comfy outfit for a day of sweating and fangirling.
THURSDAY: MAGIC KINGDOM
Here's where things start to get a little more interesting, with probably my favourite ensemble of the week. I bought this crop top before holiday from Pins & Needles @ Urban Outfitters - it's super, super cute and I can see myself getting so much wear out of it. This denim skirt is from Zara, and I bought it with its pure purpose being to go with the top. I am obsessed with roses at the moment (and obviously it fits in with a Beauty and the Beast themed day) so this skirt is one of my absolute favourite items. I love the button detailing and the distressed hem - it's just my perfect summer skirt! And clearly I couldn't treat my feet to a different pair of shoes, so my white Converse it was again.
FRIDAY: ANIMAL KINGDOM
Animal Kingdom is one of my favourite Disney parks, but it was also the hottest day, so wearing a high-necked top probably wasn't the smartest decision. However I had to wack this one out at some point - it's one of my favourite summertime tops, and it comes from Urban Outfitters (once again no longer available as I got it last year, but here's something similar). I love how unique it is, with the rainbow colours stitched into the black base colour. I paired this top with my beloved Levi's 501s. They must be the comfiest pair of shorts I've ever owned. Because they're a little long for my teeny legs, I like to roll them up a bit at the bottom. Finally, we have something a little different in the shoe department in the form of these gorgeous tan sandals from Dorothy Perkins. I really like the simplicity of these, but how they're still pretty different - and I highly rate them above last year's Miss KG sandals, which literally fell apart after a couple of wears.
SATURDAY: EPCOT
I adore this final outfit - I'd say it's the most comfortable out of the lot, but can definitely be dressed up or down. On the top we have this plain white tee from Dorothy Perkins, which is the slouchiest, softest t-shirt in the world. Though the fun is all in these Ted Baker shorts. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Probably. I mean, I think it should be a legal requirement for everyone to have a pair of pencil print shorts, especially when they are this cute. The top and shorts combination make for the perfect easy summer look. The pink trainers go brilliantly with the pink pencils on the shorts. They're from Pull & Bear (here are some similar ones from New Look) and make the look all the more relaxed. I love love love this look.
So there are my first five days of Florida outfits. No doubt you'll be seeing the rest of my fave photos from the trip in the not too distant future!
From,
Eleanor
