Little Lush Haul
This year for Father's Day, we booked a tour of Wembley Stadium for my dad and brother. Me, having no interest in football, took this opportunity to suggest an Oxford Street shopping trip for me and my mum. Of course, no Oxford Street shopping trip is complete without popping into Lush. Lush at this time of year is one of my favourite things, as they have all their limited edition Halloween and Christmas bits out. I took great advantage of this. These are the lovely products I bought:
1. The Comforter Bubble Bar
I thought I'd get this one out of the way first because it's clearly not one of their Christmas goodies. However, this is my favourite thing in the whole shop. This gigantic pinky-berry and white bubble bar creates mountains of luxurious blackcurrant bubbles whilst smelling absolutely delicious. It has bergamot oil for cleansing, relaxing and rejuvenating, as well as cassis absolute to give it it's distinctive fruity fragrance. Because its ginormous, it can easily get you through four or five baths, depending on how sparingly you use it, so it's £4.95 price tag is well worth it. As opposed to bath bombs where you simply drop them in the water and watch them fizz away, you break a bit off from the bubble bar and crumble it under the running water. Although it's not part of the limited edition range, this product is perfect for cosy nights in during the cooler months when you need an injection of warmth.
2. Shoot For The Stars Bath Bomb
This one, and the rest, are from the Christmas line. Shoot for the Stars is one I go back for year after year. I first had it a few years ago when it was one of the Lush products my Nan and Grandad bought me for Christmas and it has remained my favourite Christmas bath bomb since (apart from the Northern Lights one they brought out last year, but they've discontinued it which I hate because I loved it). Firstly, it looks incredible; the bomb itself is a classic blue with white and yellow shooting starts on it. It smells quite sweet, like honey, although looking in the ingredients, there is no mention of honey. Might just be me. However, it does have Brazilian Orange oil for refreshing and the ever-popular bergamot oil for uplifting. As soon as you drop it into the bath, the bath bomb fizzes away, revealing a variety of colours and producing a scene inspired by Van Gogh's The Starry Night. When it has all dissolved, the bath water is a gorgeous glittery deep purple, like the night sky. This bomb is perfect for relaxing but giving that little bit extra fun, especially before going to bed. It's £3.65, so your average Lush price. I really love this product and I doubt it will be the last one I'll pick up this year.
3. Luxury Lush Pud Bath Bomb
This is one Lush bring out every year and I've never actually used. It's a travesty, and I apologise for any offence caused. A lady who worked in the shop showed me what the bomb did in the water, and the answer is: quite a lot. The water ultimately ends up being bright pink, following an epic display of all the colours of the rainbow exploding from the pockets of colour on the surface and inside the bomb. It has a very calming scent of lavender, similar to the Twilight bath bomb they have all year round, so even though the bath is a colour fest, it's also very relaxing. As well as lavender, it has tonka absolute, benzoin resinoid (what ever that is) and ylang ylang oil to add the the heady, floral scent. The benzoin resinoid is also warming, so makes the bath comforting. According to a lot of reviews on the Lush website, this product also leaves your skin feeling lovely and smooth thanks to the tonka absolute, which means it's not only a fun bath but also beneficial for your skin. This one is £3.95, and ideal for taming the excitement of Christmas.
4. Star Dust Bath Bomb
On to the new additions to the Christmas line for 2015 - first comes Star Dust. Fairly unassuming on the outside but undoubtedly cute, this little bath bomb is an adorable star shape with a subtle, sweet vanilla scent. But as the lady in the shop rightly pointed out, most of the products that are white on the outside are probably not white on the inside! When you drop this one in the water, it releases bubbles of blue and mini, colourful stars. It's quite glittery on the surface as well, so I can only imagine it leaves a shimmer in the bath too. In addition to vanilla, it has our friend bergamot and rosewood oil for uplifting. I think kids (of all ages) would love this product, and at just £2.95, it's a no-brainer really. I think I will do reviews of this one and the next one that it also a newbie for this year after I've given them a go.
5. Peeping Santa Bubble Bar
Last but not least is Peeping Santa. It's fair to say I picked this one up because it looks so sweet - it's predominantly an orangey-red colour, with a cone, or Santa's hat, sandwiched to the base with a white jam-like jobby that has two drops of chocolate for Santa's eyes. I couldn't really smell in the shop because it's quite subtle, but when I smell it now I think of strawberries and cream. I don't usually like strawberry scents particularly, but strangely this one is delicious. Once again, good old begamot oil makes this fruity scent, alongside geranium oil. When you pick it up, it feels so creamy and moisturising; this is down to shea and cocoa butter, which does wonders for your skin. After crumbling a portion of this bubble bar under the water, red, fruity bubbles are produced, similar to the Hearbreaker bubble bar they had this year at Valentines Day, which I loved. This one was £3.95, and I'm excited to use it.
That's my little Lush haul done and dusted. I'm sure it's not going to be the last of year! Now I'll be covered in glitter and bomb-dust for weeks. Even if you don't plan on buying anything, it's worth popping into a Lush shop and just giving everything a whiff - everything smells so good this year and I can't wait to bathe in all the products I've bought. Plus, they have a great selection of gift boxes too that would make ideal and indulgent Christmas prezzies. A big thank you, as ever, to the lovely staff at the Oxford Street Lush shop, who are always so kind and helpful.
I'm pretty sure this'll be my last post before Halloween, so have a good one!
See you soon,
From,
Eleanor
