Festival-Inspired GRWM

Hello and welcome to probably one of my favourite posts to plan and shoot. Am I going to a festival? No. Do I wish I was? Absolutely. I've always wanted to go to Reading, and I'd especially love to go this year thanks to headline sets from Fall Out Boy and Panic! At The Disco (as long as they don't play all that many songs from their new album, not really a fan I'm afraid). And if I was going, I know exactly what I'd be wearing clothes-wise and makeup wise, which I've planned out here in this festival-inspired get ready with me, using the products I was gushing over in my July beauty discoveries post (linked here if you haven't read that one yet). Having said that, I'd prolly be chucking a load more glitter on my face if I was actually going to a festival, so I've toned down the makeup a tad to make it a bit more wearable, and the outfits could easily be worn day-to-day as well. So without further ado, let's get on with the look!

I am absolutely in love with this makeup - especially the eyes - and you can bet I did keep it all on my face for the rest of the day even though no one but my Snapchat streaks were gonna see it. I'm not going talk you through my base and eyebrow routine on here today as it never really changes (if you are dying to know, I talk about that stuff in this post). So onto eyes. If you are at a festival and you want your makeup to last all day, I would definitely recommend an eye shadow base or primer. For this look, I turned to my trusty MAC Paint Pot in Bare Study, as the subtle gold shimmer helps bring out the sparkle and gold tones of the powders going on top. From the Morphe Happy Hour palette, I took the shade Spritzer all over the lid, layering it twice to get a really pigmented colour. I took the shade Bottoms Up (which just screams summer to me, I love this shadow) on a Morphe Blender Brush through the crease, starting at the centre and working outwards, and also underneath the eye with the tip of a flat eye shadow brush, again from the centre outwards, making sure the colour from the crease and the under-eye connect. I also added Snap to the outer corners of the lid and crease for a little extra definition, and also under the eye on the outer corner too. And for a little pop of brightness, I took Hot Spot right on the centre of the lid with a Morphe chubby shadow brush.

For inner corner and brow bone highlight, I took the Platinum cream highlighter from the Sleek Precious Metals palette. I also bought this up onto the lid slightly too. My new fave - the e.l.f cream eyeliner - was my liner of choice for this wing, taken on a Morphe angled liner brush. I also took some Rimmel Soft Kohl Kajal Pencil in Black on my waterline for some more definition. The mascara really makes this look though; the Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof mascara definitely comes into its own when using bolder shadows, as the wonderful curl it gives helps to open up the eye and make it the centre of the look. And if you are going to a festival, a waterproof mascara is a fab choice if you're gonna be sweating a lot, or if you get drinks thrown all over you:)))

Moving onto cheeks, I didn't go for blush as all of the pink-y tones are focused on the eyes, but I did go in with my beloved bronzer from the e.l.f St Lucia Bronze and Blush duo in a 3-shape across my temples, under the cheekbone and jawline. It's easier to get a slight contour with shade too as it's quite cool-toned and ashier than many bronzers, so taking it on a more tapered brush is a good tip if you do want to achieve that kind of effect. For highlight, I returned to my Sleek palette and used the shade Royal Gold, which has the chunkiest glitter in it - a more 'everyday' way to wear glitter that just emptying a tube of the stuff on your face - and took this on the top of my cheekbones and temples in a C-shape and down the bridge of my nose as well. I also drew some little freckles over my face using the light brown shade (second row, furthest right) from the NYX Ultimate Palette in Warm Neutrals using a MAC 209 Brush. These went predominantly over the bridge of my nose, but I took some onto my cheeks too.

Lastly, for lips, I took my most loved lipstick ever (you can tell, look how small it is now - I think I genuinely will cry when it runs out since I don't buy from brands that test on animals anymore) - and that is MAC Velvet Teddy. Shocker, I know. It's such a cult product and I'm desperately going to miss it. Instead of drawing it all over my lips - in an effort to save it more than anything else - I dabbed it on and patted it into my lips with my finger. Over the top of that, I took the Benefit Ultra Plush Lip Gloss in Hoola. I'm not a huge lip gloss person but I adore this one - it's a beautifully subtle nude colour with teeny gold flecks in it that adds to the sparkle of the whole look. I have the travel size version of this, which is perfect for just chucking in your bum bag if you are off to a festival.

Outfit wise, I definitely know the top I'd pick out. This striped Topshop bandeau is such a go-to piece in my wardrobe at the moment - it makes even the simplest pair of jeans look good. Not only would it keep you cool at a festival, but it has stretchy lycra in it, so you could bust your craziest dance moves without a care in the world. If I was going to a festival, I'd probably opt for shorts, just cos in those crowds it can get very hot and sweaty I'm sure. The ones I've picked here are from Next (no longer available I'm afraid, but here are some similar-ish ones from ASOS) and I love the raw hem detail on them. Obviously a raincoat is a bit of an essential in the temperamental British weather too, so I've nicked this one from my brother's wardrobe while he's away (he definitely didn't get it from Missguided, but this one is pretty much what you want). If, like me, you just want the festival vibes and we're not having a super hot day like we have been recently (can I just have a nice thunderstorm now please?), I'm obsessed with these wide leg jeans I found in the Topshop sale - if you fancy them too, get them before they sell out! I've also been wearing this belt with absolutely everything since I bought it, and you can pick this beauty up from ASOS.

^I had too much fun taking these photos lol^

For some cute festival-ready hairstyles, I would probably go for an up-do to keep you cool. I think these plaits are adorable and the easiest hairstyle ever, but the space buns are lovely too - I talk you through how I do mine in this post if you wanna peruse. And finally, a great nail polish rec would be the Barry M Daylight Curing polish in Peach for the Stars - this shade matches perfectly with the coral tones given to the eye makeup, especially with the Bottoms Up shade through the crease. If you use the daylight curing top coat too, you're nails will be completely chip-resistant - whether you're scraping mud of your wellies or opening another drink.

So if you're going to a festival (ps I'm super jealous) or just fancy injecting a bit of summer into a grey day, I hope this little GRWM has given you some inspiration!

Until next time,
Eleanor
