Operation Bedroom Transformation

It feels weird writing a post about my bedroom redecoration knowing that I'll only be spending one more night here before I'm back in snuggled in my squeaky uni bed, listening to the Southampton soundtrack of drunken students screaming and crying at 1am. As much as I love uni and my cosy little room there, having my bedroom back home re-done has made me never want to leave it. Most things were done over the Christmas holidays, with one final finishing touch given to it this Easter break, so knowing I was coming back to my gorgeous memory-foam mattress and full length mirror (it's severely missed in Southampton) made me all the more excited to come home. And now that it's all complete, I thought I'd share all the new bits and pieces my room is now home to, and this post will give me a little warm hug from home when I'm trying to assess the outfit situation in a mirror about as big as my will to carry on this deadline season :)

Starting with the most obvious change - I got a new bed! I got my first, very own double bed when I moved into my house in Southampton. It was the only thing I really started to miss when I came back home (apart from my pals, ofc). In this lil renovation project, I think we boosted IKEA's income a fair bit, with the purchase of this bed being no exception. This is the Nesttun bed frame, and I love it's simplistic yet modern style. The bed itself is quite low down, but I'm still able to squeeze one of IKEA's Vardo storage boxes underneath it, which currently houses all my summer clothes. Having my first double bed at home also meant getting a new mattress, and the Hovag mattress is soooo dreamy.

I fell completely in love with this duvet cover set from Urban Outfitters as soon as I saw it. You may have already spied it in my previous two posts, as it makes the most adorable backdrop for blog photos. I'm a lover of all things celestial, so splashing the cash on this set was a no-brainer while it was on offer over Christmas. Two new pillows and their blue cases came courtesy of Primark. I also love having the little fairly lights wrapped around the bed head on just before I go to sleep. I'm not quite sure where these ones came from as they were a birthday present last year, but you can get so many cute ones from hundreds of places.

The photo montage frame above my bed is very old now, but I updated it with new photos with my fave people over Christmas time. The 'dream' ornament was gifted to me many moons ago too, but I think it was from Dunelm if you want to see if you can get your mits on it.

Next we have the wardrobe. Not only does this wardrobe tie into both the white furniture and the IKEA theme, the Trysil wardobe has a full length mirror, ladies and gentlemen. I'm far too excited about this. But, probably more importantly, it has a great load of storage space, with shelves on one side too. I keep my heels on the top shelf, trousers and skirts on the middle one, and my makeup and everyday toiletries on the bottom. Works like a dream.

We then move onto what is probably my favourite part of my newly-transformed bedroom - this jazzy chest of drawers. This is the Scandinavian Paulowina Semainier Chest from Maisons du Monde and I think it's the cutest piece of furniture ever. Again, it fits in with the rest of the white furniture in the room, and - while the drawers aren't very long or deep - they are wide, and there's plenty of them. My Bose speakers usually sit on the top, although they're packed ready for the trip back to sunny Soton, but it's also decorated with Disney and Harry Potter merch galore - my room is essentially a big game of 'spot the childish memorabilia'. The painting you can see above the chest of drawers was done by an artist in Central Park, New York, and is of the Chrysler building made up of musical notes - it has always been one of my favourite features of my room and it had to stay.

Also now adorning the walls is this typography print from Etsy. If you immediately know the lyrics on this poster, then I think we just became best friends. But if not, it's a little snippet from the goddess herself Lana del Rey's song Lust For Life - one of her best and one of my favourite songs of all time. I needed something to decorate the bare wall opposite my bed and knew I wanted something music-related, and with Lana tied as my favourite artist with twenty one pilots, this beautifully simple print was a winner. I love the way the colours contrast my walls but don't look out of place at all. Oh, and this slim black frame is from Amazon.

Redecorating my room was a lot of fun and I've loved seeing it transform into something pretty unrecognisable. No doubt I'll be missing my new room when I'm back in Southampton, but I'm so excited to see my friends tomorrow and get the end of year celebrations started (after all this work is handed in, of course).
