My Summer in Photos: Adventures in Rome
This summer promises to be a pretty full and pretty great one. I've got lots of trips and exciting plans lined up that I will be sharing with you lot through the snaps taken in a lil series of posts called My Summer in Photos. Kicking it all off was a trip to Rome with 6 of my nearest and dearest friends. I spent four-and-a-bit days soaking up the splendour the beautiful, beautiful city had to offer, constantly in awe of how completely amazing everything was. Everywhere you looked there was something new and interesting to see. So, here are the photos documenting my adventures in Rome.
DAY ONE - SETTLING IN, GALLERIA NAZIONALE D'ARTE MODERNA & MUSEI VATICANI
The morning of 30th June was spent waking up late and settling into the apartment and getting food and drink for the upcoming days. In the afternoon we travelled to the lovely and vast gardens of Villa Borgehese, mostly wandering around in the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna, or Gallery of Modern Art, which exhibited some fantastic pieces and artists. The evening was really where it was at, in our exploring of the magnificent Musei Vaticani and the Sistine Chapel.
DAY TWO: EXPLORING THE CITY
Day Two was filled with doing all the touristy attractions the main inner-city holds, starting the Colosseum, then the Trevi Fountain. Spanish Steps, Keats-Shelley House, and closing with the Pantheon, before helping myself to some spaghetti prior to a lovely evening spent on the balcony at the apartment.
DAY THREE: ROMEOW CAT BISTROT & CATACOMBS OF ST CALLIXTUS
Despite all the incredible and historical places Rome had to offer, a definite highlight was the Romeow Cat Bistrot, where I had probably the nicest meal of the holiday (poppadoms with carrot hummus, various veggies and a fruit coulis, a coconut milk, banana and cacao smoothie, and a red velvet muffin for pud) surrounded by adorable cats! In the afternoon, we went to the Catacombs of St Callixtus, which was super interesting and kind of eerie to walk around, before I shared a margarita pizza for din dins.
DAY FOUR: VATICAN CITY, QUARTIERE COPPEDE & HOME TIME
Our last day was mainly spent losing ourselves in the Vatican City - planning to go to St Peter's Basilica but instead having ice cream melt all over us - then visiting the pretty architecture the Quartiere Coppede had, and finally being picked up a 4 PM to go to the airport and chasing the sunset all the way back to Blighty.
I can't wait to share the rest of my summer with you!
From,
Eleanor
