Lush's Star Dust Bath Bomb

Yesterday I wasn't feeling 100% and generally just a bit grotty, so I thought it was best to use a bath bomb to lift my spirits. I picked out the Star Dust bath bomb from Lush. I had heard that this product provided quite a treat, so I was excited to see what happened when I dropped this little star into the water.

Star Dust was part of my little Lush haul I did late last month, which I will link here if you haven't already read it. After doing a bit of research, I was pretty sure this one would find its way into my basket. Firstly, it looks super-cute - it's a white, shimmery star with flecks of blue, suggesting that there's more than meets the eye when it comes to this bomb. The scent is what drew me to the product. I really love the smell of Butterball or Butterbear by Lush, so when I found that they had another vanilla-y scented product out this year, I was pretty pleased. This one is a bit more subtle than Butterball and I think it has more sweet scented additions rather than just vanilla, yet it still manages to smell quite fresh. The main ingredients, as well as vanilla, include bergamot oil and rosewood oil. I'm not sure whether they add too much to the fragrance, but they definitely make the bath an uplifting and cleansing one. A lovely lady in the Oxford Street store told me that inside the bomb, there were little stars, so immediately I knew this would be a fun mood-brightening one to use.

When I dropped this in the bath, the bomb bubbled and fizzed away, releasing not only stars but also bursts of pale blue. The stars weren't as big as I had hoped; they look bigger and there looks to be more of them in the video on the Lush website. Also, the stars were made of the same 'material' as the bomb itself, so before long they dissolved away too. I thought they'd be the paper-y type thingies you get inside the Fizzbanger and Blackberry bath bomb, which don't fizz away. Being a white bomb, the bath didn't particularly change colour, but there was a twinkly sheen left on the surface of the water. The pockets of blue seemed to disappear as well. The water was nice and moisturising and scent did linger on my skin, which I find a fair few of the products don't actually do as much.

I would say I wasn't all that happy with Star Dust - I was excited to use it, but it let me down because the stars melted away so quickly and they were really tiny to start off with. However, the scent is gorgeous, the water was quite moisturising and the whole look of the bomb is adorable. I think this would be a great one for kids or if your in need of a quick bath treat. I'd say the stars lasted for about ten minutes, so this bomb is probably more suited to a speedy bath. And at a price of  £2.95, it'd not that big of a deal if you don't spend as much time in the water as you usually would. This is a Christmas limited edition one, so if your interested, its best to stock up now whilst you still can. I'll be doing that with Shoot For The Stars.

I've still got one more new Christmas Lush item - Peeping Santa - to review, which I'm looking forward to doing. See you all soon!

From,
Eleanor
