An Afternoon in London

Image
On Friday, my Mum, Brother and I took the train down to London as we had booked a tour around the state rooms at Buckingham Palace. This is something I've always wanted to do and it was well worth it. Everything was so ornate and beautiful. There was an audio guide explaining different parts of each of the 15 rooms you were able to explore, plus it was interesting and slightly surreal to think that so many influential people had been in the same room you were standing in. I also recommend the profiteroles in the Garden Cafe. Before the tour, we spent some time in St James' Park. It was nice just to chill and watch the squirrels scamper about as well as taking in the pretty scenery. I love London's diversity - you have such a mix of modern and historic places and peaceful areas like St James' Park then the hustle of the streets. After the tour, we met my Dad, who occasionally works in London, for dinner. We went to Bella Italia. I had the Sausage Ragu al Forno and it wa...

Lush's Yuzu and Cocoa Bubbleroon

Image
On results day, I wanted to treat myself to a nice Lush bath. The bright yellow colour of the Yuzu and Cocoa bubbleroon matched my mood, so I chose to use that one. I even lit candles for the event. Lush's Yuzu and Cocoa Bubbleroon A bubbleroon is a bubble bar made to look like a macaroon, which is such a cute idea. It is a bright yellow colour with a little bit of shimmer, although that might have been because some glitter had rubbed off from other products in my basket. A jam type thingy separates the two halves of the bubbleroon so you can easily take half of the product and crumble it under the running water. Having this means that you can use it for at least two baths. Out of all of the products I brought at the Oxford Street store, this one smells the best. The ingredients include coconut oil and shea butter with a scent of citrus oils and a hint of chocolate. To me, it smells like lemon-y cookies. As you can imagine, it has quite a sweet smell, but would be t...

Exam Results & Dealing with Nerves

Image
Much like many 16 year-olds across the country, I received my GCSE results today. It was the hardest envelope I've ever had to open, but when I did I was very happy. I'm also extremely proud of my amazing friends who exceeded expectations and got incredible grades. I know that some people won't have got exactly what they wanted, but its not the end of the world; many colleges and sixth forms allow core subject re-takes and employers mostly look for what GCSEs you have, not necessarily the grades. If you got your results today or a week ago for A-Levels, I hope you did well! All exams involve hard work, especially in GCSEs when you have to study for so many of them. I'm a complete stress-head and every day involved panicking about what the next exam will bring. But there are ways in which you can deal with these nerves. I found these 3 tips useful. These ideas could be applied to any situation you're building up to - exams, moving house, etc - and I hope they ca...

Spencer Hastings Inspired Outfit & ASOS First Impressions

Image
ASOS is one of those websites where I refresh the 'New In' page about 10 times a day and love almost everything I see, but have never brought anything from. Before going on holiday, I spotted two items that I really liked and thought would be perfect for sixth form. I ordered them the day I got back. When they arrived, I realised they'd make a great Spencer Hastings inspired outfit. If you didn't already know, Spencer Hastings is one of the main characters in Pretty Little Liars, i.e. my favourite TV show ever ever ever, and is played by the stunning Troian Bellisario. Her style is preppy and smart but has cute and girly additions to make her outfits suitable for everyday wear.  *I'd just like to point out that this isn't an outfit I've seen Spencer wear, it's purely something I've come up with that I've adapted from her look*  ASOS - £20 The first thing I ordered from ASOS is a plain white sleeveless shirt. This shirt might be th...

12 Days in Lanzarote - Part II

Image
*If you haven't read Part I yet, find it by clicking  here * So, I had just wolfed down banana and honey pancakes when I had last written to you. Nothing out of the ordinary. However, the next days were something quite special.  Timanfaya Volcanic National Park  The next day was spent by the pool, but on our seventh day, we hired a car - a little Fiat 500, i.e. one of my favourite cars ever. On our first outing with him that day, we traveled to the iconic Timanfaya Volcanic National Park. This was the epicentre of hundreds of giant eruptions between 1730 and 1736. Visiting there was something I won't forget in a hurry. The landscape looked like something out of a movie. There was dried lava surrounding the incredible mountains. We took a bus tour around the site so we got a close up view of the huge craters and beautiful yet eerie views. After the tour, we watched a guide pour water into holes in the ground, which created a huge geyser. We also had a look aro...

12 Days in Lanzarote - Part I

Image
The last time I left you, I had just had a relaxing bath before a long trip to Gatwick and an even longer trip to Playa Blanca, Lanzarote, for this year's family summer holiday. We spent twelve days on this beautiful island, exploring it's alien landscapes, gorgeous beaches and lots of sunbathing.   It all started on the 28th July, when we traveled down to my Nanny and Grandad's house before heading to Gatwick airport in London. After queuing for a long time, we arrived in Duty Free heaven, where I bought the original Chloe scented body lotion. I've decided its my holiday fragrance. It's a very floral smell with peony, lychee, and freesia being the main elements. I used it after every shower on the holiday and it left my skin smelling and feeling lovely. The scent will forever remind me of this holiday. The flight itself was four hours long. As soon as we landed, we had views of glistening, clear blue sea and we knew we were in for a treat.  Clear blue sea...
