High Street Picks for A/W18

Even though shooting these pictures today made me feel like I was back in Lanzarote snapping pics for my last post, I'm pretty sure the best time of the year is upon us now. Autumn is just such a delight. The crackle of the falling leaves under a heavy Doc Marten boot, snuggling up under thousands of blankets writing blog posts in the glow of fairy lights, and CHUNKY KNITTED JUMPERS. Can I get a hell yeah? Mostly, it's that last point - or just Autumn/Winter fashion in general - that makes this my favourite time of year. I love the khakis and the burgundys and deep purples that pop up in our shops and convince me to spend lots of money. I've already splashed some cash this season, and alongside some beloved bits from years gone by, I've come up with my perfect Autumn/Winter wardrobe. Here are my highlights:

So even though Autumn is out and about, I still think t-shirts are an essential piece for round about now. Our weather here in the UK is a little bit unpredictable - sometimes it is simply t-shirt weather, but on days when it is that bit chillier, it's a good idea to layer up with t-shirts and jackets. This Levi's tee is absolutely perfect. It's slightly on the pricier side, but its wonderful quality and so easy to throw on with anything. It's quite thick too, so an excellent bridge between a warm long sleeve top and a summery tee. I love tying it in a knot at the bottom, and pairing it with these ASOS ripped mom jeans (probably a good thing you can't see the rips here; after putting my foot through one the other day, they're even more embarrassingly big than they were when I bought them 3 years ago). If it is too chilly to wear outside by itself, my layering piece of the season is this suedette biker jacket from Missguided. To be honest, being a fairly cheapy, fake suede material, I don't know whether this'll see me through to A/W19, but for the moment I'm obsessed. I've always wanted a leather jacket but often found they look too bold on me, so this softer take on a biker style is right up my street.

This easy-peasy outfit combines two of my favourite autumnal style highlights: khaki and super cosy jumpers. This wonderfully warm piece comes from Dorothy Perkins. If you like your jumpers a little oversized like me, I'd recommend sizing up, just to make it extra snuggly. But is this not the perfect grandad, cable-knit style jumper for the season? I think so. Pair it with some black skinny jeans, like these Topshop Joni Jeans, and you are ready to conquer those conkers.

Something I've been seeing in shops this year more than ever is pinafore dresses, and I am totally on board. I absolutely adored this one from Topshop, but opted for this pretty close dupe from Primark, which comes in at a fraction of the price. I think I also prefer the button detailing on this one, incorporating the tortoise shell trend that kicked off earlier this year. Corduroy just screams A/W too. High-necks and roll-necks are always an A/W hit, and this grey one from Dorothy Perkins pairs perfectly with the lil dress. I'm also super excited to be able to wear my Docs again! My most expensive clothing purchase ever, and such a staple in my wardrobe now - I don't know what I'd do without my little clown shoes. I think they tie this outfit together perfectly and make it an adorable little ensemble.

And last but not least, what's A/W without a winter coat? I wasn't planning on getting a new coat for 2018, but when I discovered my favourite grey longline New Look coat had holes in both the pockets and I had to reach deep into the lining to find my keys, I decided to bite the bullet. Boxy coats seem to be all the rage this season, which isn't excellent news for little Ellie as I end up drowned in coat, but this piece from H&M is the one. I opted for a black coat this year - as much I love my grey one, so many of my jumpers and tees are grey, and I looked a bit like a rain cloud wearing both. It's the ideal, just-above-the-knee length, made from a lovely, felt-like material. I love this style of coat too - it can smarten up any outfit, but it's easy to be casual when you just have a jumper and jeans on too. The jumper of choice (again, khaki, obvs) is a Topshop find from a couple of years ago, and the jeans are my absolute faves from ASOS

Time to enjoy the best season of the year in my favourite 'fits. Hope you're all well and enjoying all the cosiness.

See you soon!
From,
Eleanor
