Operation Bedroom Transformation

Image
It feels weird writing a post about my bedroom redecoration knowing that I'll only be spending one more night here before I'm back in snuggled in my squeaky uni bed, listening to the Southampton soundtrack of drunken students screaming and crying at 1am. As much as I love uni and my cosy little room there, having my bedroom back home re-done has made me never want to leave it. Most things were done over the Christmas holidays, with one final finishing touch given to it this Easter break, so knowing I was coming back to my gorgeous memory-foam mattress and full length mirror (it's severely missed in Southampton) made me all the more excited to come home. And now that it's all complete, I thought I'd share all the new bits and pieces my room is now home to, and this post will give me a little warm hug from home when I'm trying to assess the outfit situation in a mirror about as big as my will to carry on this deadline season :)  Starting with the most obv...

Let's Chat About Tattoos and Piercings

Image
Had you asked 16-year-old Ellie if she was going to get any more piercings alongside her earlobes, she probably would have moodily rolled her eyes and said, "why would I do that?" And then put her earphones back in, listening to old Fall Out Boy songs really loudly and trying way too hard to be cool. And if you'd have asked her if she'd ever be inked up one day? HA! Not a chance.  Well, here we are: two more piercings and a tattoo later. Granted, I'm not expert in the field yet, and my body mods definitely aren't too drastic, but I think chatting about this stuff is so fun. I love hearing people's ideas for tattoos, I love seeing all the finished products, and as someone who got their first tat and latest piercing fairly recently, I do get a lot of questions about them, so hopefully I'll be able to answer some of those today. First of all, let's chat about what I have... I got my very first tattoo on 8th February this year and I love l...

Spring Cleaning: Makeup Clear Out & Discovering My Holy Grails

Image
It might be because on the morning of writing this post I binged loads of The Anna Edit's (aka the organisation queen) 'Daily Edit' videos, or because I'm getting increasingly annoyed about the amount that falls out of my makeup bag every time I open it, but I decided to do a massive makeup clear out. I've had some of this makeup for as long as I can remember, and half of it I really don't use anymore. And I'm also slightly scared that I'll get chemical burn after putting some this stuff on my face now. So, I've drastically narrowed down my collection, and in this post we'll be celebrating the truly angelic products that have made it to the next stage - the judges' houses, if you will - while also paying tribute to some real troopers that, with a heavy heart, we bid a fond farewell to today. BASE PRODUCTS  If you take away anything from this post, ladies and gentlemen, please let it be: CHECK THE EXPIRY DATE OF YOUR MAKEU...

I Couldn't Sleep So I Updated My Blog (+Life Update)

Image
HELLO.  Been a while, hasn't it? I'm super duper sorry. Don't blame it on me, though - blame it on 2019. January was a slog, but - like me in a competitive game of Mario Kart - the rest of the year has unmercifully whizzed by. Lots seems to have happened since I last posted way back in the day (ie January) - some of the albums I spoke about in that post have already come out! Now, I'm on my Easter break from uni, lying in bed, seemingly incapable of getting a minute of sleep. So why not completely revamp the blog and write a little post? This is what I look like now. I haven't changed all that much, although I feel like I have. My hair's grown a crazy amount, I'm wearing colour, and I'm incredibly happy. Alas - still the same cringey Ellie. But what's not to be incredibly happy about? I'm now inked (sorry family) with a little shooting star about my ankle, I've seen some of my favourite bands live with more promising gigs on t...
