How to Rock Girls Night like Ellie & Emma

Image
You guys remember Emma, right? My wonderful flatmate who is the biggest shopping enabler ever, makes the best veggie stir fry going and occasionally but unintentionally dresses like a minion. Well every week - usually every Thursday, but today is Emma's birthday (HAPPY BIRTHDAY EMMA) - we have girls night, where we drink wine, wack on a face mask and have a good lol. Having a night just once a week, when you truly get to pamper yourself and forget about the stresses of uni, is super refreshing, and the perfect solution for a nice, chilled, anxiety-reducing evening. I think we've mastered the girls night routine now, so here's a step-by-step guide on how to rock a girls night like the pros. 1. paint your nails.  What's girls night without a good manicure? Thanks to Emma's vast collection of polishes and my refusal to be seen in public without painted nails, this is a vital step in our evenings, never mind how bad I am at it. A polish that I'm loving at th...

Uni, Being a Journo, and Fall out Boy sounding sweeeeeet

Sometimes, even I don't wanna hear about make-up and clothes anymore. I feel like for the longest time all I've gone on about on here is that stuff, and whilst I'm passionate about it, sometimes it's nice to talk about something else, yanno? So when I was trying to think up an idea for this week's post, I was lost. I didn't have time to bake anything and show you a recipe, no new music or videos have been released that I feel compelled to analyse like I've done before (although  Justin Timberlake's new tune and video?   Pure gold). But the reality is I haven't had a whole load of time to do these things because I've been busy doing other super exciting things. And with all the mad, mad, mad stuff that has happened since I last updated you guys on what was going on (when even was the last time I did?), I think it's time for a long overdue... *be prepared for just a weird stream of consciousness :))))* So, if you're new around ...

The Cruelty-Free Edit

Image
So I'm not really one for new year's resolutions. Whenever I've made one, I've never really stuck to it. But for 2018, I guess you could say I've made one? I mean, it's a continuation of an and idea that I started working on sometime last year. Buying strictly cruelty-free makeup. I was surprised how many of my favourite brands actually test their products on animals, and that's not something I really want to buy into. There actually are some awesome brands out there fighting against animal testing, and if it sounds like an initiative you'd be interested in, here's my current everyday makeup look using only cruelty-free products!  complexion.  Even though I've gone out and bought makeup bits to purposely replace some of the products I already owned, these two staple pieces in my collection are actually cruelty-free. And what's super fab is that the Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector - as well a...

Post-Christmas Clothing Haul

Image
After the massive build up to Christmas and New Year, it all seems to be over the blink of an eye. Now it's time to get back in the swing of things and do the uni work I've been putting off for ages, and waking up before 10 o'clock. There's nothing like a good spend up to kick those January blues, and together with some vouchers I was very lucky to receive for Christmas, and the money my overdraft is kindly supplying me, I did just that.    the jumper dress & star tights. Let's start with what is probably my favourite outfit of the lot. I was perusing the ASOS sale as soon as Boxing Day rolled around, and in typical Ellie fashion, I found this full-price jumper dress  that I am now fully in love with. It's super, super cosy, and is the perfect little piece to dress up or down - I love pairing it with a denim jacket, silver hoop earrings and black ankle boots. But I think the tights really make the outfit. I don't think I've ever obs...

Best Bits of 2017

Image
Oh hey there 2018, when did you get here? It seems like I blinked and 2017 had come and gone. I guess what they say is true: times flies when you're having fun. And 2017 was a mental, exciting, complicated, stressful, thrilling, wild ride. So much happened in those 364 days and I loved so much of it. So without further ado, lets have a chit-chat about all the bits and bobs that really stood out for me in 2017 in the world of beauty, fashion, music, film and tv, and my top moment of the year to round things off. Let's get started. beauty.  I've experimented and fallen more in love with beauty and makeup in 2017 than I ever had before. Yes, admittedly I'm still not great at it, and yes, I have a pretty basic makeup look, especially for everyday wear, but I genuinely look forward to covering my face in the stuff every morning and trying out different products. I spent far too much money on beauty products this year, and I couldn't narrow it down to one f...
