Some Musical Things I've Been Loving

This week saw a big celebration of lots of great music and artists with the BRIT Awards on Wednesday. I didn't actually tune into the live show, but have since watched the fab performances of Ed Sheeran alongside Stormzy, and The 1975, plus I will forever be bitter about one of my fave bands, twenty one pilots, going home empty handed. That aside, I've been listening to some really snazzy music recently, and the BRITs inspired me to write up this little post to let you in on what you should definitely be adding to your playlists right now :)  LANA DEL REY - LOVE  Lana Del Rey provided the backing track to my early years at secondary school with her haunting debut Born To Die. I've been hooked on her music since I first heard Video Games back in the day, though in recent years her style has diverted somewhat into something I wasn't such a fan of. Her latest singe Love, however,   seems to recall her earlier material, in a soft, movie-soundtrack-esque ki...

My MAC Lipsticks

Image
Ever since I've been building up my little makeup collection, MAC is a brand I find myself going back to again and again, especially for their lipsticks. There's something quite special about a MAC lipstick; from the delicious scent, to the formula, to the satisfying 'click' when you pop the lid back on. Whenever I'm looking to treat myself, I'll be running to a MAC lipstick counter. They aren't the cheapest on the market, which is why a.) I only have four and b.) some are kind of similar colours, ones which I know I'll get my money's worth from. So if your a MAC lipstick lover like myself, or your thinking of starting a collection and don't know what to buy first, or simply just nosy, enjoy my lippies!  Pure Zen   was my first ever MAC Lipstick, and my first high-end makeup product (if you class MAC as high-end, idk). This is such an ideal throw-on nude shade for me. It has a gorgeous warm peachy hue to it, and as it is a cremesheen f...

My Top 10 Netflix Shows

Image
One of my favourite things to do before winding down for bed is watch an episode of a good TV show, and Netflix is full of 'em. I've become pretty fab at binge-watching the great series Netflix has to offer, and decided to whittle down my top picks for you all to enjoy. From the Netflix newbies to some real classics; some you may not have heard of to some definitely worth the hype, I love each and everyone of these series, and I hope you do too!  10. A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS  At number ten, we have new release: Netflix's very own TV-version of A Series of Unfortunate Events, succeeding the books and film release, staring the wonderful Jim Carrey. This is my no. 10 choice mostly because I haven't finished it yet - it definitely has the potential to rise higher up the list. The narrative follows the Baudelaire children - Violet, Klaus and Sunny - who have recently been orphaned, and their mission to escape the clutch of Count Olaf, who goes to desperate...

A Golden Glow

Image
A makeup look that I've been really into ever since I started building up my collection a little more has involved some sort of golden glow. A goldy-bronze eye look can be worked all year round, and 100% of the time looks pretty and sophisticated. This is the way I like to do mine - super quick, and super simple - incorporating a nude-pink lip to take us right into SS17.  First things first, a fresh face is a staple Springtime makeup trend. I applied one of my all-time faves  MAC Studio Face and Body Foundation  using a MAC 190 Foundation Brush . This is a great foundation for this look because its got a very sheer coverage, but has a definite glow. Underneath my eyes and in the inner corners, I used the  MUA Pro Base Prime & Conceal Correcting Cream in Peach  just on my little finger. Colour correctors are a must when you want a perfected base that doesn't look too cakey, and peach ones combat the inevitable darkness under my eyes well. I don't u...
