Lush's Lava Lamp Bath Bomb

It seems like I had been waiting for my post-exams shopping trip with my mum for forever, and, as I finished the last of my AS exams on Thursday, the opportunity popped up yesterday. A full haul of what I bought will hopefully be up later this week so stay tuned! For me, a shopping trip without having a sniff of all the Lush goodies is an incomplete trip. I picked up a fair few of my favourite bath treats, including one I hadn't seen before - the Lava Lamp bath bomb. So, I thought I'd do a little old-school review for you lot.

It's not hard to see why I made a bee-line for this bomb. It looks like a more restrained version of the Luxury Lush Pud they bring out at Christmas, with a dominant orange base and pockets of purple. This bomb is pretty much 60s-central, with vibrant colours and an equally strong scent, alongside the promises of a lava lamp effect in your water. The main ingredients involve Sicilian mandarin, tangerine oil and orange flower, so it's really no surprise the scent of this bomb is intense with orange and citrus. The ingredients more beneficial for the skin include cocoa butter for softening, extra virgin olive oil for moisturising, and the tangerine oil also tones. With a super-cute look and skin benefits just as appealing, I was very excited to use this bath bomb.

After running a nice warm bath, I dropped this beauty into the water. It dissolved very quickly with a loud 'fizzzzzz' and the pockets of purple soon dispersed, breaking down into oily orbs that bobbed along the surface of the water. The main colour of the water was a deep orange as it wasn't long before the purple either transferred onto me or the sides of the bath. It's fair to say, purple skin isn't the best look, but unless you scrub it away with some force, it doesn't want to budge. The same goes for the bath itself - I spent the the longest time cleaning up after this bath bomb than I have for any other products from Lush. This means that it if you're looking for a bath bomb perfect for a relaxing night in, this might not be your best option (Yoga Bomb is fab one for a calming, orange bath time treat - my review for it is linked here). Saying that, the oils did effectively create a giant lava lamp in the bath, and left my skin feeling silky smooth and smelling delicious.

At £3.95. this is one of Lush's more expensive bath bombs. Personally, I'm not sure it's worth it. It did a great job at mositurising and smells fantastic, but looking like Oh from Home isn't top of my list when I'm looking for a nice bath bomb (Oh looks like this if you weren't sure). If you're desperate for a bomb that's lovely for the skin then this might be a good one, but I would just slap on some body lotion after using another, more relaxing/less messy bomb and call it a day.

Hope you've had a lovely bank holiday!

From,
Eleanor
