My Top 5 Spring Beauty Essentials

Image
For me, the definition of springtime beauty is products that make you feel fresh, pretty and awake. Around this time year I switch up the products I like to use to make them more suited to the season, and these are my top 5 beauties for spring 2016.  1. Max Factor Creme Puff Blush - Lovely Pink This little superstar baked blush has been raved about so much in the beauty blogging universe and very rightly so. A complete parallel to the much-loved Hourglass Ambient Lighting blushes but won't blow up the bank, the whole Creme Puff Blush range is soft and lightweight but at the same time very buildable and pigmented. The colour Lovely Pink is the ideal shade for spring: it's quite a subtle shade but adds a natural, flushed look to your cheeks. The base of the shade is a gorgeous blue-toned pink but intertwined with a shimmery gold so it does well at doubling up as a highlighter too. Lovely Pink is probably a shade best suited to fairer skin tones like my own, but othe...

Tropical Hot Cross Buns

Image
Nothing screams Easter more than steamy hot cross buns with sizzling butter slipping and sliding across it on Good Friday lunchtime. Admittedly, you might think of the satisfying crack when you snap an Easter Egg in half more than this, but shout out to all those who've stuck to their lent - I haven't touched chocolate for almost forty days, so continuing that trend I decided to do some Easter baking that wasn't so heavy on the chocolate (probably also best since I plan on over-indulging on Easter Sunday). I haven't gone for a traditional hot cross bun. Instead, I've decided to put a tropical spin on these well loved treats with pineapple and mango rather than the usual raisins and sultanas. The recipe is also fairly simple and quick, so would be easy to whip on Good Friday.  ~I have adapted this recipe to make it my own, but the original recipe is linked  here ~ You Will Need:  500g of strong white bread flour, plus extra for dusting your surface 1/...

Spring

Image
When you think of writing an English Lit essay in preparation for your AS Level exams, the word 'fun' doesn't exactly spring to mind. Yet, whilst I was planning said essay, I felt the sun on my neck as it streamed through the window, and I smiled. British weather is very temperamental and I didn't expect to have such blue skies after a week of constant rain and chilliness, so a trip out to walk along the river and enjoy a steaming latte in the local tea rooms wasn't anticipated today. Of course, I can't leave my coat at home just yet, but spring finally feels like it's making a welcome return. Something about the season makes everything seem fresher and generally brighter. I think Autumn is still my favourite season, however the revival of pretty pastels, the rise of the daffodils and the endless reams of Easter choccies will never go unappreciated. There's few things I enjoy more than the occasional visit to the tea rooms because everything in it is so...

February Favourites

Image
Hello there everyone. Yes, I am in fact still alive despite a huge lack of activity on this blog. I say every time it won't be long until my next post but I think we've all come around to the idea that's probably a complete lie. Anyway, hopefully I can make up for it with this post because I have been loving a lot of things during the month of February, so let's get on with it.  Firstly, and very excitingly, I have fallen in love with Jack Garratt's debut album Phase. I love it even more now, though, since my review of the album is my first ever properly published album review. The review was published by two different websites, which I will link  here  and  here  if you'd like to see a more in-depth review of album. I was so super-duper excited to see they had been published; it took me a long time to get to sleep that night. The actual album is a dramatic mix of all sorts of genres, ranging from dance-floor pop to hearty ballads with elements of sm...
